Gamers Rise Up

Watermarked. Portrait of Oswald Mosley modified to resemble The Joker. "WE LIVE IN A PERIOD" is attributed to Mosley, a reference to "We live in a society", a catchphrase of the Gamers Rise Up movement that used The Joker as a mascot.

Gamers Rise Up is a catchphrase from an online movement of the same name. Gamers Rise Up started as a satire of Gamergate, relying on over-the-top tropes of the alt-right. Over time, it became perceived as less satirical and an output for hate speech. Crudely made memes of The Joker and the phrase "We live in a society" were common elements in Gamers Rise Up memes.
