“The Honkler” is a character resembling Pepe dressed as a clown that is used to express extreme and absurd nihilism. Similar to Pepe, Honkler often expresses hateful messaging disguised as dark humour. Unlike Pepe, whose messaging usually represents a personal detachment to a society that extremely online people may feel distanced from, Honkler’s nihilistic expressions usually treat society as a joke and assume that those detached from it are only disengaged because society itself is unhealthy.Honkler is the primary (and sometimes only) visually represented inhabitant of Clownworld and Frenworld, fictional memetic environments that also came to mean the environments that Honkler memes were shared in. r/honkler and r/frenworld subreddits were banned in 2019.
