Iron Cross

An iron cross. It is a black cross, with two equally long concave arms crossing each other in their center. The cross has an outline which follows the shape of its arms. In the middle is a white Swastika.

The Iron Cross was a military decoration awarded to soldiers in Prussia, and later in Germany, including during the Second World War, though the Nazi version of this symbol is adorned with a swastika in its centre. Because of its use in Nazi Germany, the Iron Cross is a popular symbol with neo-Nazis today. However, the symbol features prominently in European military uniforms and in non-Nazi cultures, particularly bikers. As such, context is highly important in understanding the meaning of its use.
