Was/Were Pronouns

Screenshot of a Telegram repost of a Tweet from Sean Quinn: "Reminder for fellow journalists: Summer Taylor, the 24-year-old killed after being struck by a vehicle on I-5 early this morning, was non-binary. Pronouns were "they, them." The Telegram post following says "Updated pronouns are now 'Was, were.'"

A meme used by anti-transgender activists to demeans those who use pronoun disclaimers in social media bios and make light of suicide in the transgender and non-binary communities. Such allusions to suicidality are often used in order to liken 2SLGBTQ+ identities to a psychological disorder.

The meme is also used in transgender-affirming spaces, often as a warning to people victimizing transgender people online.
